Mayu is one of the students who attends the Aspertia City Trainer's School along with Lack-Two and Whi-Two. Like most of the girls in their class, Mayu is obsessed with Lack-Two, and solely blames Hugh for causing trouble when their teacher, Cheren, punishes Lack-Two, Leo, and Hugh. Later, on the same day, Mayu's Combee loses in the girls battle competition.
